Urban Outfitters comes to Columbia

IMG_1740

Urban Outfitters in Columbia? That’s the kind of response I’ve gotten every time I mentioned the pop-up shop held in the parking lot of Tin Roof in the Vista, but finally it’s here, and people have realized I’m not quite crazy.

A collaboration between a few different parties, Urban Outfitters kicks off their Urban Outfitters: Store on Tour with a stop here in Columbia, South Carolina. With a truck full of printed bags, cute blouses, thick knits, and funky accessories, the brand takes classic Urban Outfitters pieces and exposes them to a new market.

It wasn’t only Urban Outfitters on display though as Dry Soda
as well as Tortoise & Blonde Eyewear were present. While I didn’t get to try the lavender dry soda- nor any of the other flavors for that matter – I did get a chance to speak with the guys at Tortoise & Blonde. Based in the north-east US, the brand sells their pieces only online which assists in keeping prices low. Because of this, a pair of prescription glasses with the lenses could cost under $100.

A collaboration with Dockers Alpha(a) has resulted in also an art installation that can be viewed outside of the shop.
