“It was a great turn out, and we accomplished the connection we wanted to get between the audience and the charity,” commented Amy Woodell after the Retail 388 Birds of a Feather Flock Together fashion show Sunday. All proceeds from the show went to Clothed in Hope, a charity in which Amy is the founder and creator.

The semiannual Retail 388 fashion show featured three student designers as well as local retailers on the runway this year. Students, Ashlyn Tuggle, Lilly Greenhalgh, and Amy Woodell presented their collections that showed off their specialties. From Ashlyn’s bow ties and Lilly’s animal prints, to Amy’s recycled t-shirts, each of the student designers showed off their individual trademarks in their collections.

The show was success with its full house that had every audience member glued to the 40 models as they walked down the runway with bird inspired hair-dos. Paul Mitchell design team leader, Sophie Sanders wanted to create a look that had a bit of a tougher edge and that did not fit in with the South Carolina trend. The girls defiantly stood out, with their feathery hair, and bird-eyed make-up.

The class began preparing for the show at the beginning of the semester in August. From the meetings with the numerous sponsors such as VanJean, bohemian, and Slice, to the model castings, to getting hair and make-up, and finally to getting the word out about the show the class has been working round the clock, in every aspect of the production.

Well the word is out that this semester’s show was smash! We can’t wait to see what they turn out next semester.
