Teen Vogue Fashion University Experience part 2

Every year members of Fashion Board at USC attend Teen Vogue Fashion University for a weekend, which normally coincides with the University’s Fall Break. Here is the 2012 experience of member Morgan Epperson.

Attendees of Teen Vogue Fashion U were allowed to tour the Teen Vogue offices

by: Morgan Epperson

After finishing the editorial floor tour I did not think my day could get any better. Boy oh boy was I wrong. As I sat in the lobby awaiting the rest of the students for the next session a strikingly tall and elegant women whisk fully walked passed. She confidently walked right through the doors of the Teen Vogue office. My mouth was wide open I could not believe whom I had seen. Jane Keltner de Valle, the Senior Fashion News Editor of Teen Vogue had just walked right past me, with her perfectly cut bob and sky-high Alexander Wang boots. Teen Vogue Fashion University is an annual event hosted by Teen Vogue for college students.

This year at Teen Vogue Fashion University was bigger and better than when I attended last year. I never thought I would once again get the opportunity to sit in a room amongst 500 other crazy fashion enthusiasts listening to Grace Coddington speak for our opening ceremonies. For those of you who do not know her, she is the Creative Director of Vogue. Within minutes of being on stage she charmed the entire audience with her quick wit and elegance.

This week while in London I had the opportunity to attend the Little Black Jacket exhibit from Chanel at the Saatchi Gallery before it hits Paris. The exhibit is fairly well advertised in the Saatchi Gallery neighborhood and but is being shown in different cities like Tokyo, New York, Hong Kong and Taipei. Sidney, Paris, Berlin and Moscow are amongst the cities to receive the exhibit next.

Undeniable

Who doesn’t love watching award shows?

I watch only the first hour or two sometimes because I am just dying to see what the hottest looks are that come right off the celebrities outfits. This year the Emmy’s truly brought out some new eye-popping gowns. The London Evening Standard is calling this the Bright Brigade.

The Favorites:

One of the most eye-catching celebrities at the event was January Jones in a gown by Zac Posen. The edgy, bold look made her look powerful and crisp that it made all her best features pop out brilliantly. The Monique Lhuiller dress on Ginnifer Goodwin was absolutely breathtaking to see on her. The dress was a tangerine shade that was embroidered. Julianne Moore not only grabbed Best Actress winner but she also made it onto the best-dressed list. She wore a Raf Simon’s lemon zestful gown which is Simon’s first couture collection for…
